I write this article from the perspective of an experiencer of mental health conditions, not a trained professional who can on occasions accept what is taught. I have developed my emotional intelligence throughout my life (and still am learning) and taken my own path to heal. A path less trodden and of course open to debate. If you, yourselves experience the challenges of mind health, I encourage you to read on. I was once troubled with anxiety, depression, panic attacks and trauma/ptsd. I now only experience mild anxiety, which I perceive as a gift: Anxiety As A Gift – Community Retreats. This is an opportunity to rethink mental health with your heart and soul.
There are two key aspects in taking this path, possibly a more spiritual approach, to rethinking your mental health:
- Sleep: The Power of Sleep: Information, Healing & Clarity – Community Retreats and;
- The ability to calm the mind: Calming The Mind – Community Retreats
You need your sleep not only for the body to rest but to heal. Calming the mind is essential to listen through the noise to the voice (soul) within. So, find a way to master the ruminations (or monkey mind). I did – it wasn’t overnight – it may have taken six months, concerted effort and a can-do/positive approach but it made a huge difference in my life!
Mental health conditions are imbalances between our inner world and outer world. The outer world if you have been paying attention is a constant rhetoric of fear. Our inner world needs love and nurturing. The two can be incongruent with each other (fear – mind, heart – soul). In the end it just boils down to fear vs love. Try and solve this with the mind and you might end up here: Mind Programming – Time to Unlearn, Relearn & Rethink – Community Retreats. Part of the healing process requires the ability to rethink, unlearn and relearn or remember who you truly are. It’s not an easy process admittedly, your condition is your gift to guide you along but you do have support: here and on the other side of the veil.
Support varies for individuals. We each have our guardian angel: Guardian Angels – Community Retreats. In addition, guides show up when we are ready. There are different kinds of guides and you can find more here: Guides and Your Support Team – Community Retreats. The universe (multiverse) has got your back. A good friend once said to me:
“Life (God) throws at you only what you can handle”.
And if it all feels overwhelming: ask the universe to slow things down for you. You can ask via prayer, intention setting, journal writing – find your way of processing, identifying your need and asking for help. If the NHS is overwhelmed and the waiting list years (I had to wait over four years for counselling support with my ptsd/trauma) consider complimentary practitioners.: Considerations For Choosing Spiritual Practitioners – Community Retreats. For mind health, I found acupuncture, Bach remedies and homeopathy incredibly helpful. We all need a helping hand from time-to-time – I don’t think anyone of us have truly figured this human experience – yet!
Moving on – I bet words such as “being too sensitive” or “over-empathic” might dance into your world. There is nothing wrong with being sensitive nor empathic but are you just picking up everyone else crap? I walk into a room and can read the energy imprints on the wall and tell you the room’s history e.g. whether there’s been lots of arguments. I read energy signatures easily so when an email says one thing, I know the intention and any mismatch. This is the advantage of sensitivity and with that you can pick up a lot of unseen energies (not on the visible spectrum – that’s been deliberately hogged) and if the case, I encourage you to think about protection. Protecting you/your energy field: Spiritual Protection – Community Retreats And protecting your home & family: Crystal Grid Protection Around Your House & Land – Community Retreats. There’s nothing wrong with being an empath either – that’s part of the journey back to heart-based living. The last time we were all truly living heart based was Atlantis!
And finally – there will be plenty of “a-ha” moments as well as “I told you so” as your start to piece back together your world. Where do you start? Try here: Healing: Where do I start? – Community Retreats. You can also read lots more in my book too: Charlie’s Book – Healing Me So My Children Can Be – The Dark Night of the Soul – Community Retreats which is all about how I move on from mental health challenges and troubles to find mind health peace: From Mental Health Challenges To Mind Health Peace – Community Retreats.
I admit, there’s a lot here. My big brother once gave me a great piece of advice when I was struggling after my Mum’s passing over ten years ago:
“Take small stepping stones”
he said. Simple yet incredibly useful. Go at your pace not the one the system or your boss would like you to dictate to you. I had to actively manage my relationship with Universal Credit and still do. Small stepping stones and remember your path is uniquely designed so don’t compare yourselves with others, it’s futile.
I hope you have a peaceful day. Thank you for reading.
