About us
Community Retreats is a not-for-profit company established by Charlotte Coltman in November 2021. The legal structure is designed in such a way that profits or distributions cannot be taken from the company, nor assets stripped for their value. It operates as a social business charging for services as well as providing for those in a more disadvantageous position financial or otherwise.
The Vision, Mission and Values of the organisation were brought together by four individuals: Yan Cabdom, Charlotte Coltman, Pepa Rosa Jagadamba Dominguez, and Elena Hristoff, with a heart centred approach. The underlying motivation is that many businesses today operate under Keynesian thinking of a lack of resources. We do not believe this is so. Our approach is that we have all that we need, the universe provides for our needs and that indeed we have abundance which enables us to follow our true soul path.
Charlotte Coltman
Charlotte Coltman is an MBA educated professional with previous experience of bringing to fruition social projects. She is also a healer.
Her early career in Financial Services included starting life making cups of tea as an office junior, progressing to a fund managers assistant, then credit analyst and investment manager working in high-risk investments (high yield, emerging markets and distressed). However, the lifestyle left her searching for something more in life. Travelling the world, teaching English as a foreign language, studying her MBA in Australia and renovating a property on the south coast are such examples.
Her search for meaning to her life took her to East Africa in 2010 where she worked in international development supporting the build of a girl’s secondary school in Tanzania and establishing a small NGO, Grassroots Tanzania, in 2012 working in a remote rural part of the country. After 5 years, she returned to the UK with her 2 young children.
Alongside her search for greater meaning in her life, Charlotte struggled with her mind health experiencing bouts of depression, anxiety and culminating in trauma and panic attacks in 2017. Determined as a mother not to pass on, or project her emotional challenges onto her young children, Charlotte embarked on a challenging journey to heal herself and take responsibility for her health. This journey of timeline healing, ancestral healing and tangential (or past/future) lives healing enabled her greater understanding at a deeper level and in doing so started to reveal her gifts at a soul level.
Charlotte is insured as an energy healer (violet flame), spiritual mentor, meditation facilitator and angelic reiki practitioner.
Will I provide services for free? No. Why?
I often get asked this question and would like to clarify my position on this.
There is a rather warped belief within the spiritual community that services should be provided for free out of the goodness of our hearts, as the energy of money isn’t good. This is warped and needs to be put to one side. We all have to function in society.
Will I provide services for free? No. Why? Here are my reasons:
Firstly, I am a single parent with two children. I am the sole earner for my family and need to maintain a roof over my head and stability for my children. I pay rent, I pay bills, I buy food. I therefore, like everyone else have costs that need to be covered.
Secondly, I have found that when people have services for free, they do not value them. They take advantage of my gifts, skills and abilities. I already do a huge amount of land healing for humanity which is unpaid. I also write a blog for free as well as host a Facebook group. I am offering as much as I can without charging.
Thirdly, I believe there needs to be an energetic exchange. This encourages responsibility, values my services and time and is respectful. Our society currently functions on monetary transactions. If you wish to consider and exchange it has to be something I need. A good example is organic veg for my family so buy me a Riverford voucher. Please don’t assume I want healing in exchange for healing as I have my own personal network in place.
